HSBC and First Direct down with customers unable to use internet banking

The HSBC and First Direct websites appear to have crashed this evening with users also reporting an issue with HSBC's app.

Customers have reported being unable to use the HSBC and First Direct websites since around 8.30pm this evening.

Suzanne Wareing tweeted: "Why can I not log into my app @HSBC_UK I’m going to get a charge of I can’t move money before 23:45!".

At 8.46pm First Direct wrote on Twitter: "Our Online and Mobile Banking services are currently unavailable.

"We're really sorry and are working hard to fix this."

A HSBC customer said: "HSBC web site is down.

"I've just been on hold for ages on the phone to make an urgent payment that I would have done online. 

"If I'm 1 min over my overdraft limit (23:45 hrs) HSBC will charge me."

HSBC are yet to acknowledge the outage on social media.

Bobby Heath tweeted: "No access to online banking or website for over an hour and no acknowledgement of a problem anywhere. 

"Can you let us know what's going on?"

Greg Phillips said: "@HSBC_UK Any chance of you telling your customers what's going on?"
