HS Prannoy, Satwik-Chirag advance to quarterfinals at China Masters

NEW DELHI: Indian shuttlers had a successful day at the China Masters badminton tournament as HS Prannoy and the dynamic duo Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty secured their places in the quarterfinals.

In the men's singles event, World Championship bronze medallist HS Prannoy showcased his prowess with a convincing 21-12, 21-18 victory over Magnus Johannesen of Denmark in a pre-quarterfinal match that lasted 40 minutes. Seeded eighth, Prannoy demonstrated smart play and experience to secure his spot in the quarterfinals, where he is set to face the third-seeded Japanese player, Kodai Naraoka.

Meanwhile, in the men's doubles category, top-seeded pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty continued their stellar performance, defeating the Japanese duo of Akira Koga and Taichi Saito with a scoreline of 21-15, 21-16. The Indian duo's next challenge in the quarterfinals will be the Indonesian combination of Leo Rolly Carnando and Daniel Marthin.

Prannoy's strategic play and Satwik-Chirag's formidable partnership highlight India's strong presence in the China Masters tournament. As they progress to the quarterfinals, Indian badminton fans eagerly anticipate more thrilling performances from these talented shuttlers in the coming rounds.
