Hozier leaves fans in stitches as sings about 'pints with the lads' in Comic Relief spoof

Hozier left fans in stitches with a hilarious video that saw him urged to "let people know you have a personality" in a brutal roasting for Comic Relief.

The Irish singing sensation showed his class by subjecting himself to the spoof video – which saw him go head to head with comedian Aisling Bea in a good-natured back and forth – as part of the charity project.

In the video, Aisling suggests to Hozier that he might benefit from taking a more upbeat approach to his music.

But the Bray native repeatedly struggles to deliver anything other than the soulful music that has won him millions of fans all over the world – even when he's singing about having "pints with the lads".

And there's more merriment as he attempts to read out a series of crass jokes provided to him by Aisling – telling her at one point: "I don't know if I can say this, Ais."

"I mean this in the nicest way," she tells him – "I can’t imagine bringing you to a dinner party without you bringing down the mood."

The video came as part of RTE's Comic Relief celebrations for 2020, and saw Hozier reveal that his favourite food is steak and chips.

As well as the comedy video, Hozier also delivered a vocal masterclass in an empty Croke Park as he wowed fans with a cover of Simon and Garfunkel's Bridge Over Troubled Waters.

The virtuosic performance left fans stunned, and prompted fellow musician Bressie to declare him "the most complete and best vocalist in the world right now.

"What he can do is on an entirely different planet," the former Blizzards frontman tweeted.

RTE sports presenter Des Cahill was also impressed by the performance, hailing it as "awesome".

Many others took to social media to offer up similar thoughts about Hozier's efforts.
