Howth residents delighted about 'gorgeous' new toilet facilities beside DART station

By Emma Nevin

Howth locals have welcomed the construction of four new toilets beside the town's DART station.

The toilets have a modern shed design and are each painted in different, bright colours.

Fingal County Council funded the project and told Dublin Live they anticipate they will be running "in the coming weeks".

A spokesperson for the council said: "The new Howth Public Toilets are currently being installed by a contractor on behalf of Fingal County Council Operations Department.

"They are currently undergoing final fix and service connections such as water, ESB.

"We anticipate that they will be in operation in the coming weeks.

"Their opening date will be advertised by Fingal County Council on the usual channels.”

Residents have had a very positive reaction to the new facilities.

In a local Facebook group, one resident said: "Echoes of the mural just down from them. Nice and seasidey."

Another wrote: "Imaginative and practical- well done."

A third said: "Fantastic great job and well done to all that made this happen."
