Howls about that for a doggy duet? Sanquhar dog Skye hits the high notes

Two opera singers had some help with their concert preparations this week ... from two-year-old collie Skye.

Amy and Stephanie Strachan, members of the Blackbird Opera group, were hitting the high notes when the crooning canine decided to join in.

Owner Caroline McMillan, who posted the clip online, said: “Skye is loving our lodgers and has decided to give up work as a sheep dog and run away with the travelling opera.”

The four legged falsetto provided a lot of entertainment in Caroline’s home in Sanquhar.

She said: “Both Amy and Stephanie are staying with us as the Blackbird Opera group tours the region.

“They were practicing before a rehearsal yesterday and I came back at lunchtime and straight away they showed me the video they’d taken of her howling along.

“I wasn’t surprised to see Skye doing it as she’s howled like that before but this was the first time I’ve seen her doing it in time with them singing. As the girls were hitting the high notes it’s almost as if she’s trying to match them.

“It was funny to watch her singing along in time with them.

“It’s a brilliant video and it’s the first time she’s tried opera, normally she just woos along to a song.

“She’s a brilliant dog and provides a lot of entertainment.”

Blackbird Opera is performing the Marriage of Figaro in various locations throughout the region this weekend.
