Howden Group appoints its first global director for hydrogen

Howden Group has appointed Salah Mahdy as its first global director for hydrogen.

The Renfrew-based compressed gas provider hopes the new hire will help lead its new hydrogen road map.

Mahdy has more than 20 years’ experience in business development, technical and engineering roles.

He has worked for Honeywell-UOP, Wolrey, AspenTech and ITM Power, on some of the world’s largest green hydrogen and ammonia projects in the Middle East.

As global director of the hydrogen business, Mahdy will use his experience with contracts to develop strategic partnerships and drive growth.

Howden has more than 100 years of experience in the compression of hydrogen, and is looking to develop its role in the 'green' hydrogen value chain with its compression technologies and solutions.

Ross B. Shuster, chief executive at Howden, comments: “Our technologies and services play a key role in advancing the environmental hydrogen eco-system and Salah will be working in partnership with our major customers in the environmental hydrogen segment to jointly advance the hydrogen economy and create a more sustainable world."

Mahdy added: “We have a very exciting journey ahead of us: with over 160 years of delivering high quality solutions, and a proven record of quality and innovation, Howden is well positioned to be the world’s leading hydrogen compression solutions provider.”
