Howard Mudd: Andrew Luck reminds me of Peyton Manning

The Indianapolis Colts have been blessed over the past two decades with exceptional quarterback play between legend Peyton Manning and the current franchise guy in Andrew Luck.

It is never easy replacing a first-ballot Hall of Famer, but Luck has been the best candidate to fill those massive shoes. Even Howard Mudd, who was hired as the Colts’ senior offensive assistant this month, sees similarities between the two signal callers.

Mudd admitted that Luck is a better athlete than Manning was and that the latter would agree with that statement.

That’s some high praise for Luck, who is coming off of his most efficient season after setting career-highs in completion percentage (67.3) and passer rating (98.7).

Luck silenced any doubts about his throwing shoulder after missing the entire 2017 season. He finished second in the NFL in touchdown passes with 39 while enjoying a streak of eight consecutive games with at least three touchdown passes at one point during the season.

The Colts offensive line was a big reason for Luck’s success as the unit allowed the fewest sacks in the NFL while also proving to be a solid run-blocking unit.

Luck will finally have an offseason without hiccups or restrictions, which makes the 2019 season even that much more exciting to look forward to.
