Boris Johnson has suffered a massive body blow with more than 100 Conservative MPs voting against his plans for covid passports at large events in England.
The already battered Prime Minister’s authority was smashed by one of the biggest Conservative rebellions of recent times which left him relying on Keir Starmer’s Labour party to get the measures through.
Tory Whips had hoped to whittle down the number of disgruntled Tory MPs after the Prime Minister made a personal appeal to backbenchers on Tuesday afternoon. Read the coronavirus morning headlines here.
In Wales, Clwyd West Conservative MP David Jones rebelled on all three votes around Plan B measures being introduced in England.
The votes were on the new facemask rules, whether a daily negative test result should allow those exposed to a positive case to avoid self-isolation, and the third was on vaccine passports.
Before the vote Preseli Pembrokeshire Conservative MP Stephen Crabb had told the BBC's Politics Live programme it would be "very, very difficult" for him to vote for Covid passes, but he didn't rebel.
He expressed concern the country could separate into two groups with the vaccinated allowed "to participate fully in all of the benefits of mainstream society" and the unvaccinated "who by force of sanction and coercion by the state, won't be able to participate in the same kind of activities".
Brecon and Radnorshire MP Fay Jones didn't vote on any of the three and Montgomeryshire MP Craig Williams didn't vote on Covid passes.

Welsh Conservative leader Andrew RT Davies said his party had taken a "strong decision" here in Wales to be against the Covid pass.
He told BBC Radio Wales: "At the moment there is no evidence that has come forward to see that the Covid pass is effective in suppressing coronavirus, or the variant. It seems to be a comfort blanket for ministers to be seen to be doing something."
Standing up for Boris Johnson, he said: "All governments go through mid-term difficulties, but there is a need to make sure you get on top of these issues. The Government in Westminster is delivering, making sure the economy is moving forward, record number of jobs being created, and putting measures in place that will ultimately help us get through this pandemic."
