How you voted in two-way battle to crown Leeds United's Young Player of the Year

Leeds United will celebrate a fantastic first season back in the Premier League tonight, as the club host their annual Player of the Year Awards ceremony.

The bash will take place after Marcelo Bielsa's men complete their season against West Bromwich Albion as the club reflect on season which has seen Leeds return to the top half of the Premier League.

The main Player of the Year award promises to be a highly competitive affair, with CEO Angus Kinnear writing in his programme notes that it 'will be as hotly contested as the award for the most unusual body part declared offside by VAR.'

We ran a survey last month to see who you wanted to see win the honour, with Stuart Dallas winning by the slimmest of margins.

This week we also wanted to canvas your opinion for the Young Player of the Year honour.

We drew up a shortlist which saw frontrunners Illan Meslier and Pascal Struijk listed alongside Ian Poveda and Jamie Shackleton and you have voted in your thousands.

The votes have been tallied up and there is a clear winner.

Illan Meslier secured a whopping 86 per cent of your vote as the Frenchman's brilliant season between the sticks was deservedly recognised.

The 21-year-old has earned 11 clean sheets this season, with only Sam Johnstone and Aaron Ramsdale having made more saves, both of whom have played more matches than the Leeds No.1.

Pascal Struijk's emergence has been another of the season's big successes and he scored a respectable 13 per cent of the vote after he breakthrough into the first-team and established himself as an equal to skipper Liam Cooper, German international Robin Koch and Spain's Diego Llorente as options at the back.

Meslier will now be hoping that this vote is replicated in tonight's ceremony, which we will be blogging here at LeedsLive.
