How you could be a garden centre Father Christmas

We may still be in Summer, but it's only 18 weeks till Christmas and a very important job needs filling.

The ECHO has lifted the lid on what it takes to be a garden centre Father Christmas.

We all know Santa himself lives in Lapland, and his workload in the run-up to Christmas means he often he needs some help bringing festive cheer to locations around the region.

Dobbies Garden Centre in Speke have been searching for their perfect Santa since late July.

The events manager at Dobbies said the person has to be a very "special person of jovial character."

The Santa-to-be has to be very good with children, jolly and happy to wear a red suit.

They also added their Father Christmases have to be "real characters" with a passion for family and Christmas.

The garden centre Father Christmas will go through special Santa school training.

This involves thorough customer service training including the history of grottos.

The Father Christmas will also have to go through a DBS process in order to fulfil the position, while autism-friendly training will also be given.

Garden centres throughout Merseyside say they are potentially looking for their special Santa.

The ECHO was told potential Father Christmases should look out for other garden centres hiring in around September and October.
