How you can see the International Space Station from Cardiff today

Despite being hundreds of miles above us and travelling at thousands of miles an hour, people across Cardiff will be able to see the International Space Station on Wednesday, January 29 .

If the skies stay clear, the ISS station will be visible with the naked eye from around 6.18pm over the city.

It will be visible for around three minutes, according to NASA.

All sightings happen within a few hours before or after sunrise or sunset. This is because the sun reflects off the ISS and contrasts against the darker sky.

The ISS circles the earth every 90 minutes and travels around 17,500mph more than 253 miles above.

This means that the crew on board see 16 sunrises and sunsets every 24 hours.

The ISS is earth's only "microgravity" laboratory, and the American-football sized ship is home to six people.
