How you can see Santa flying home in the sky on Christmas Day morning

You and your little ones may be able to see 'Santa's sleigh' flying over Manchester on Christmas Day morning.

It will mean a bit of an early start - but no doubt you'll be up with the kids anyway.

Santa's sleigh, or the International Space Station, will be visible over Manchester at 6.53am on Wednesday, December 25.

You will be looking for a shining light, which looks like a moving star (Rudolph's bright nose) and will travel across the sky for four minutes.

Of course this all depends on the weather and the sky being clear, but you've got more chance to catch it than last year when it its visibility window was just two minutes.

You will be able to spot the ISS at other times too, but you won't be able to use the Santa line that day.

ISS sightings over Christmas:

Christmas Eve - for 2 minutes at 6.07am and 4 minutes at 7.41am

Christmas Day - 4 minutes - 6.53am

Boxing Day - for 3 minutes at 6.06am and 4 minutes at 7.41am

The ISS, which weighs 925,000 pounds and measures 357ft end-to-end, will not be visible on a Christmas Eve until 2023, unless the station's orbit changes.

You can get more accurate information about where to look for the ISS in the sky in other parts of the world from the NASA website .
