The cheapest day of the year to buy one product in five is Black Friday , for everything else you're better off waiting.
That's according to a new study by shopping price comparison site idealo.co.uk , which monitored the prices of almost 500,000 products for a year to reach its conclusions.
It found that TVs and headphones had their lowest prices on Black Friday, but that was about it.
For almost everything else you'll find better deals just after Christmas.
Katy Phillips from idealo said: “We’ve looked extensively at the data from last year and have been monitoring prices with a keen eye in the run up to this year’s Black Friday.
“It’s alarming how retailers hike up prices ahead of Christmas, as you could save up to £901 by waiting until the 27th December."
But people looking for presents shouldn't be entirely put off, with 15 December the best day to pick up games consoles, video games and laptops and still have time to get things under the tree.
"We want to make sure consumers get great deals on their Christmas presents," Phillips said.
“We hope that by providing clear pricing information and encouraging consumers to set up price alerts on their favourite products, shoppers this year will have peace of mind that they are getting a making saving.”
