How you can help Edinburgh's annual toad migration

More than a thousand toads will be making the annual journey from Arthur's Seat to the water in the coming weeks, and they need your help.

Holyrood Park's toad migration is getting under way, as the amphibious animals wake from their winter hibernation around Arthur's Seat.

They will be looking to head to the nearest body of water, and volunteers are needed to help shepherd  them across the roads.

At several morning sessions taking place in the coming days, rangers from Historic Environment Scotland will also teach the volunteers about conservation in the park.

"Holyrood Ranger Will" said: "Come and help the toads of Holyrood Park on their annual migration.

"The whole family are welcome to join some of Ranger colleagues to learn more about these fascinating creatures and escort them safely across a road."

Sessions are taking place on the mornings of March 27 and 30, for more information contact rangers@hes.scot.
