How you can apply to vaccinate the nation with covid jab

As the coronavirus vaccine grows nearer to being approved St John Ambulance are looking for volunteers to help administer the jab.

St John Ambulance is working with the NHS to support the roll out of a COVID-19 vaccine across the country when it becomes available.

Between now and spring 2021, the service plans to train more than 30,000 volunteers.

There are a variety of roles on offer, with full training provided by the two organisations.

There are three roles specific to the vaccination programme, these are: Vaccination Care Volunteer, Volunteer Patient Advocate and Volunteer Vaccinator.

Some people, specifically the Volunteer Vaccinators, will be able to give vaccinations, but others are there to support people as they go through the process of receiving a vaccination.

Vaccination Care Volunteers will be supporting patients all the way through from arrival to discharge. They will help patients get to the right place to receive their vaccination and be on hand to provide first aid if anyone has a medical emergency.

Volunteer Patient Advocates will focus on the welfare of patients throughout their experience. You will look after individuals and small groups in the vaccination centres. If anyone has a medical emergency then a Volunteer Patient Advocate will be able to recognise it and get help quickly.
