George Osborne has been forced to rework his plans to save £4.4bn to cut tax credits after a defeat in the House of Lords earlier this week.
Ahead of the chancellor’s spending review and autumn statement on 25 November, families are increasingly concerned about the impact proposed tax credit cuts will have on them.
Challenging Osborne in a speech to the Child Poverty Action Group, Gordon Brown said: “Tory analysis is so wrong – a mistake on a par with the poll tax and worse than bedroom tax. The impact of cuts cannot be massaged or phased to soften the blow. Even a modified version will destroy jobs, stunt children’s development and impoverish hard-working families.”
With more than 70% of families on tax credits in work we’d like to hear from the people who will be directly affected. Do you receive working tax credits or child tax credits? Does anyone in your family have a disability? Are you expecting your household to lose money?
