Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has something of a selection headache as Los Blancos return to action after the international break.
Zidane's side host Levante at the Santiago Bernabeu at 12pm BST on Saturday in the fourth round of La Liga and the French coach has problems in midfield after Luka Modric was ruled out through injury on Thursday.
Isco is also out, along with long-term absentee Marco Asensio, while Fede Valverde did not train after returning from international duty with Uruguay. That means James Rodriguez, only just back from injury himself, is in line to start against Levante.
Madrid did not bring in a new midfielder over the summer, with Marcos Llorente and Dani Ceballos allowed to depart (the latter on loan), and that has left Zidane short of options due to a plague of injuries at the Bernabeu. In fact, Toni Kroos, Casemiro and James were the only three midfielders named in the squad to face Levante.
"These are the players I have," he said on Friday. "I count on those I have and they are the best." And asked about the injuries, he said: "We have a lot of internationals, players who never stop."
Eden Hazard is available again after injury, but Zidane would not confirm whether he would start on Saturday, with a tough trip to Paris Saint-Germain ahead in the Champions League on Wednesday.
"We have to be calm with him," Zidane said. "He came back a week ago. There is a lot of pressure and interest in seeing him. He is ready, but I will decide whether or not we hold him back."
Gareth Bale is out through suspension after his red card in the 2-2 draw away to Villarreal prior to the international break, so Hazard may well start in his place.
Brahim Diaz and Mariano Diaz are not included in the squad following their recent injury problems, but Rodrygo is back and could play some part, while goalkeeper Alphonse Areola is expected to be on the bench after he joined on loan on deadline day and Keylor Navas moved to PSG.
Real Madrid possible XI: Courtois; Carvajal, Varane, Ramos, Marcelo; Casemiro, Kroos, James; Hazard, Benzema, Lucas Vazquez
