How will Man Utd line up against Southampton? Mason Greenwood to start in place of injured Anthony Martial

Mason Greenwood is in the frame to start up front for Manchester United against Southampton after injury to Anthony Martial.

With Alexis Sanchez having signed for Inter Milan on a season-long loan, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a dearth of striking options, which could see him turn to 17-year-old Greenwood.

Marcus Rashford is likely to start as a centre-forward, with Martial facing a losing battle to be back, following a muscle injury picked up in the defeat to Crystal Palace last week.

That leaves Solskjaer with a decision to make on how to shuffle his forward line.

Daniel James could play on his preferred left-hand side, with Greenwood on the right.

Greenwood is also capable of playing centrally or on the left, giving Solskjaer more options.

Should the teenager miss out on a start, Jesse Lingard or Andreas Pereira could be deployed on the right.

In defence, Ashley Young is expected to cover for the injured Luke Shaw, who sustained hamstring damage against Palace.
