Liverpool will still be without both Naby Keita and Alisson Becker for Newcastle United’s visit to Anfield this weekend.
However, the pair are closing in on a return according to Jurgen Klopp, who no fresh fitness concerns ahead of Saturday’s game.
Keita has been out since suffering a recurrence of an adductor issue in the build-up to the Reds’ Uefa Super Cup win over Chelsea in August.
On the Guinean’s recovery, Klopp said: “Naby is close, much closer than Ali. I think he could be in training when we come back from Napoli next week.”
Alisson, meanwhile, is still battling back from a calf injury picked up in the early stages of an opening-day win over Norwich at Anfield.
But the Brazilian could be back after the next international break, his manager believes.
Klopp added: “Funnily enough, we had lunch together [just now]; he looks good and he is improving, but we cannot put any pressure on it.
“It was a really serious injury in the calf. It is now much better, of course, and that’s good for us and good for him, but we don’t know exactly [how long it will be].
“The target was always after the next international break [that] he could be ready, but we don’t know. So, as I said, there is no pressure and hopefully everything will be fine for the rest of the season, that’s the plan.”
Klopp went on to comment that the rest of his squad ‘looks quite OK in the moment’, meaning he has few selection dilemmas for the visit of Steve Bruce’s side.

However, with Roberto Firmino having flown to the United States to represent Brazil this week, he may look to make changes in attack.
Predicted XI: Adrian; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Henderson, Oxlade-Chamberlain; Salah, Origi, Mane.
