How West Ham's awful record gives Everton hope of turning season around

Everton face a West Ham team riding high in the table this weekend - but there are plenty of reasons for optimism the Blues could end their poor run.

That's because the Hammers' good form hides a potential Achilles heel too.

While the Irons' away form has been impressive this season - they're yet to lose on their travels - their results outside of London have long been significantly worse.

Their 3-1 victory over Watford is their only win away from the capital since December last year and the Hornets are hardly far from home.

The Hammers will also be without goalkeeper Łukasz Fabiański after he had surgery on a torn hip muscle.

Replacement Roberto made his league debut in the 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace before the international break and the Blues could look to target the inexperienced keeper.

On top of that, Everton have a record of strong results against West Ham when it counts.

The Blues played the London side at Goodison two years ago when Sam Allardyce had just been appointed as manager.

The former England boss watched from the stands as his new club beat his old employers 4-0 in a game which kick-started a seven-game unbeaten run, including a 1-1 draw in the Merseyside Derby.

Everton could do with replicating their performance from the 2017 fixture with manager Marco Silva under pressure.

A hat-trick from Wayne Rooney and an Ashley Williams goal gave the Toffees a much needed victory after they had lost 4-1 at Southampton the week before.

West Ham's 3-1 victory at Goodison last season ended their four-game losing run at the start of the season.

Everton will be hoping the roles will be reversed on Saturday as Silva's side look to end a miserable run of form.
