How well do you know Geordie phrases? Put your knowledge to the test in our quiz

Do you know the difference between kegs and kets? What it feels like to 'bubble'? - and we don't mean forming a Covid support network.

These are just a few well-worn North East terms that may seem quite unfamiliar now. Even proud Geordies who love to keep local words alive might struggle to recall some of the old expressions.

People living around Newcastle and the wider North East are rightly proud of their local history and heritage - and accent and dialect are part of that. Even if it means people in other areas may not understand what we mean, who cares.

There are some weird and wonderful local words about, some of which might be more familiar in certain areas of the region. Our Geordie quizzes which test local knowledge are always popular and Chroniclelive has previously included themes on landmarks and trivia, as well as famous faces who have helped put the region on the map.
