How Vince McMahon reacted to WWE picking Ronda Rousey's match for Wrestlemania 35 main event

Wrestlemania 35 will mark a landmark moment with a women's main event for the first time in history.

Former UFC superstar Ronda Rousey will defend her WWE Raw Women's Championship against Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair in an eagerly-anticipated match-up on Sunday night.

The match is seen as the culmination of a rapid Women's Evolution in the WWE, helped by the high-profile acquisition of Rousey when she left MMA.

It has now been revealed that boss Vince McMahon was so pleased that women had been thrust into the main event that he opted to personally break the news to the three wrestlers involved.

Flair told the State of Combat podcast: "Vince told us, all three, personally, just how proud he was and congratulations, and that we earned it.

"Coming from the boss, it just meant so much.

"He is trusting us with his biggest show of the year, and his belief in us is what means so much."

There are a number of huge matches taking place at the Showcase of the Immortals, making it even more ground-breaking that the women's match is the main event.

The rivalry between the big name trio has captured the imaginations of the WWE universe and is sure to live up to its billing in New Jersey at the weekend.
