How Unai Emery 'beat Mauricio Pochettino' to Dani Ceballos loan deal

Dani Ceballos has been convinced to join Arsenal over Tottenham this summer because Unai Emery has given him guarantees over playing time, according to reports in Spain.

The Real Madrid midfielder is believed to be close to finalising a temporary switch to the Emirates this summer, having also been linked with a loan to Spurs.

Details of Ceballos' proposed contract at Arsenal have been revealed by Spanish daily Marca , who claim that Arsenal will be paying all of the six-times capped Spain international's wages, which are believed to be around £2.7million a year.

The 22-year-old was initially said to be close to joining Spurs, but AS - as detailed by Sport Witness - claim that Emery's vow over playing time has seen him switch his attentions to the Gunners, who are receptive to the idea of a loan deal due to a lack of transfer funds available this summer.

Emery has previously spoken about Arsenal's transfer plans this summer, but refused to confirm whether or not the Gunners wwere making a move for Ceballos, who joined Real Madrid from Real Betis in 2017.

“Our target is to get three or four players who can really improve our squad now," Emery told a press conference.

"We are being very, very demanding and first speaking about the possibility to sign very expensive players.

"Dani Ceballos is a very good player.”

The Gunners take on Bayern Munich in their second pre-season game of the season in Los Angeles at 4am GMT on Thursday.

They have also been linked with moves for Gremio's Everton , Celtic's Kieran Tierney and Crystal Palace's Wilfried Zaha this summer.
