How two of Tyrone's love interests on Coronation Street started their soap careers together in Emmerdale

Jennie McAlpine has been a permanent fixture on Coronation Street for the last 17 years, but what many people don't know is she actually made her debut into the soap world on Emmerdale.

And what's more, her Emmerdale debut was with another of Tyrone's great loves.

Jennie has become instantly recognisable for her portrayal of Fiz on the ITV soap and her character has had some huge storylines.

Fiz initially appeared as a troubled teenager briefly fostered by Roy (David Neilson) and Hayley Cropper (Julie Hesmondhalgh) at the age of 16.

She later started working at the Underworld factory and got tangled in a serial killer's web when husband John Stape (Graeme Hawley) committed three murders and had Fiz help him bury the bodies.

Fiz had to implicate other people in order to cover for John, later giving birth to their daughter Hope prematurely in the live 50th-anniversary episode where McAlpine became the first actress to act out a birth live in a soap opera.

But prior to arriving in Weatherfield in 2001, Jennie appeared in three episodes of Emmerdale as teenager Michelle Morley from 1999 to 2000.

Way back in 1999, the now 33-year-old played Michelle Morley in Emmerdale at the age of 16, this is where she started her soap career spanning nearly 20 years.

And she was the on-screen friend of Ollie Reynolds, played by Vicky Binns - aka Tyrone's former wife Molly Dobbs!

Molly famously met a tragic end, dying in the aftermath of the famous tram crash - but not before telling Sally that her husband was Kevin was father of her son, Jack.

Vicky joined the cast of Corrie in 2005 and was on the cobbles for five years.

After studying for her A Levels, Jennie auditioned for the part of Fiz in Coronation Street in 2001 and despite being hired for only five episodes, she won over the producers with her comic timing and has played the iconic character ever since.
