How Tottenham could line up with Yves Bissouma and Djed Spence as new signings look to forge key partnership

Antonio Conte could look to forge new partnerships between his incoming signings once Tottenham complete deals for Yves Bissouma and Djed Spence.

Brighton midfielder Bissouma is set for a medical this week after a £25million fee was agreed between the two clubs, ahead of the player signing a five-year contract.

Whereas Spence is in talks with Tottenham over a potential £20m switch from Middlesbrough.

For the young wing-back, Conte would have a straightforward job in slotting him in down the right flank, in competition with Matt Doherty and Emerson Royal.

Dropping Bissouma into the side is also a seemingly simple task with the central midfielder comfortable marshalling a three-man defence having played in that system regularly with Brighton.

The interesting question is whether Spurs will place the Malian on the right or left side of the double-pivot, given he will most likely be fighting Rodrigo Bentancur to play with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Both the Dane and Bissouma tended to play on the left side of central midfield last season, giving Conte a job in picking who to move over to the right.

Either way, if Spence and fellow newboy Ivan Perisic are to become first-team regulars then a partnership will have to be struck up quickly between Bissouma and the new wing-backs.

Alternatively, he is comfortable playing in the middle of a three-man midfield with Conte on occasion switching Tottenham to a 3-5-2 formation.
