How Tottenham could line-up from January transfer window amid Brozovic, Onana and Vlahovic links

New Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte may be able to stamp his own authority on the squad in January when the transfer window opens once again.

The Italian coach has such a specific style and set-up that he may look to recruit names that fit his way of playing in the winter market.

Spurs made a few signings in the summer under new Director of Football Fabio Paratici, who manoeuvred the signings of Cristian Romero and Pierluigi Gollini from Serie A side Atalanta on loan-to-buy deals.

Promising young winger Bryan Gil and right-back Emerson Royal switched La Liga football for the Premier League to join up with the Tottenham squad.

Another up and coming player joined the club in the form of Pape Sarr, who was then sent back out on loan to FC Metz for the season in Ligue 1.

Conte has been linked with a move for Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic, a player he knows well from his time at the club.

His role was a key one in the middle of the park at the Serie A club, receiving the ball from the back three and looking to progress it for his side. With his contract up in the summer, he could be a shrewd transfer.

Andre Onana is another who could make the move to London from Ajax. The goalkeeper has refused a new contract with the Eredivisie club, meaning he will be free in the summer.

With Spurs captain Hugo Lloris’s contract up at the end of the season, Cameroon international Onana could be the ideal replacement with the gloves.

Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic has been a potential transfer target for both Tottenham and north London rivals Arsenal.

The 21-year-old striker has impressed in Serie A and has refused a new contract at the club, with his current one expiring in 2023. He could represent a potential partner or replacement for striker Harry Kane.

Conte could stick with his 3-4-2-1 formation that he has used in his first two Tottenham fixtures, earning a 3-2 win over Vitesse Arnhem in the Europa Conference League and a 0-0 draw at Everton.

Line-up (3-4-2-1): Onana; Romero, Dier, Davies; Reguilon, Brozovic, Hojbjerg, Royal; Son, Moura; Vlahovic

There could also be a switch to playing both Kane and Vlahovic together in a front two partnership, playing Son just behind in a 3-4-1-2.
