How Tottenham can spoil Chelsea's Ben Chilwell backup plan as Barcelona table double swap deal

Tottenham Hotspur could have a say in whether Chelsea pull off a double swap deal with Barcelona in the upcoming transfer window. The Spanish giants are said to be on the lookout for a 'top left-back' this summer.

Sergio Reguilon has courted the interest of Barcelona ahead of a potential move, according to the Mirror. Xavi's side have also taken an interest in Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso, though. The Spurs defender has struggled to nail down a frequent role in Antonio Conte's starting eleven lately, casting doubt over his future at White Hart Lane.

However, while Reguilon may be on the Catalans' radar, Chelsea are open to a double swap deal with Barcelona in the summer transfer window, according to Spanish outlet Sport. The report claims that the Blues would secure the services of long-term target Sergino Dest and Neto in return for Azpilicueta and Alonso, who have each been linked with moves to the Camp Nou.

Thomas Tuchel's captain has already been offered a deal by the Spanish outfit, according to Goal. The report claims that Barcelona are willing to give the 32-year-old a pay rise and a two-year contract, with an option for an extra year.

Chelsea's captain has reportedly learned that he can rake in £11 million a season before tax at Camp Nou. Due to ongoing financial woes at Barcelona, Xavi's side are unable to pay a substantial fee for the Blues dup, who each have twelve months remaining on their deals at Stamford Bridge.

Therefore, this summer, due to Financial Fair Play restrictions placed on them by La Liga, it is unlikely that a deal can be completed unless a sale elsewhere can fund said transaction or if a swap deal is engineered. So, according to Spanish outlet Sport, Xavi's side have offered Chelsea Dest and Neto, who have both been linked with the World champions this season.

However, with the Mirror outlining Barcelona's interest in Reguilon, Tottenham could spoil their London rival's proposed swap deal by sanctioning their left-back's departure.
