How today's Premier League results affect Cardiff City, Burnley, Southampton and Newcastle United's survival hopes

Cardiff City's battle to remain in the Premier League just got tougher after Burnley came from behind to beat Bournemouth 3-1.

It means Cardiff are now eight points adrift of their relegation rivals with a game in hand, heading into their final six fixtures.

The Bluebirds meet Burnley in their next match on April 13, and they now know victory is imperative.

Burnley had trailed 1-0 at Bournemouth after Ashley Barnes' own goal in the fourth minute, but goals from Chris Wood, Ashley Westwood and Barnes turned the tide to secure a priceless win.

Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock sets the record straight over his future amid reports he's ready to leave

It moves Burnley on to 36 points, with victory over Cardiff likely to all but secure their safety.

Southampton, who lost 3-1 to Liverpool on Friday night, remain five points ahead of Cardiff, while Brighton are also on 33 points but have played one game less than Neil Warnock's side.

Newcastle United are on 35 points and remain in the relegation picture after their 1-0 home defeat against Crystal Palace, who look safe on 39.
