With Novak Djokovic, Serena Williams, and Andy Murray all set to feature, Wimbledon 2026 is turning the pages back to the good old days, as many tennis fans will tell you. However, the context of their appearances this time around couldn't be any more different.

While the 39-year-old and seven-time Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic is still chasing that elusive 25th Grand Slam title, his familiar foe Andy Murray will feature in the coaching team of Brit Jack Draper, who, along with Emma Raducanu on the WTA Tour, will be the UK's hope for a home Wimbledon champion.

However, those do seem like unlikely scenarios, with World No. 1 and defending champion Jannik Sinner looking like the firm favourite to go all the way, especially since his arch-rival and two-time Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz is missing out due to a wrist injury after also missing the French Open, where Sinner was unable to capitalise on the Spaniard's absence.

World No. 3 Alexander Zverev, meanwhile, claimed his first Grand Slam title in Rome and finally enters a tournament as a Grand Slam champion – something that should make him lighter on his feet and allow him to play with more freedom and confidence.

Speaking of playing with confidence, Ben Shelton, Frances Tiafoe, Francisco Cerúndolo, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, Donna Vekic, Linda Noskova, Marie Bouzkova, Karolína Muchova, and Madison Keys all enter Wimbledon 2026 after winning grass-court tournaments. And if this season is anything like 2025, we could have several upsets on our hands.

On the WTA Tour, which has had nine different Wimbledon champions in the last nine editions, it's really hard to tell who's going to take the trophy home this season, especially as World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka, World No. 2 and Australian Open champion Elena Rybakina, and defending champion and World No. 3 Iga Świątek all enter the tournament on the back of poor runs of late.

Perhaps it will be the 19-year-old Mirra Andreeva, who recently won Roland Garros, making a breakthrough on grass. Or will it be the 44-year-old and seven-time Wimbledon champion Serena Williams, making her return to professional tennis after four years, who fancies a deep run into the tournament?
