Virginia Tech earned a dramatic, six-overtime win last weekend with a 43-41 victory over the North Carolina Tar Heels at home. The game made history, as it was the first game to be decided by alternating two-point conversion attempts due to college football’s new overtime rules. Virginia Tech rushed for 254 yards. To have the same success it will need to overcome a physical Notre Dame defensive front.
Notre Dame suffered its worst loss of the season its last time out, getting beat, 45-14, to the Michigan Wolverines. Having to deal with heavy rains, the Notre Dame offense could never get going, with quarterback Ian Book completing just eight of his 25 pass attempts for a meager 73 yards. Notre Dame has lost both of its games against ranked teams this season and will need to step up against Power Five opposition during the remainder of the season to earn a top-tier bowl berth.
