Last week, the Minnesota Vikings opened Week 8 with a Thursday night victory at home over the Washington Redskins. The 19-9 win was far from stylish, but the Vikings defense held a combination of Case Keenum and Dwayne Haskins to 216 total yards and kept Washington out of the end zone. Minnesota enters Week 9 with a +79 point differential, which is second only to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC.
The Kansas City Chiefs were competitive in Matt Moore’s first start in place of injured quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Andy Reid’s squad lost an exciting 31-24 game to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football, where Moore delivered a solid 267 passing yards and two touchdowns. It was the Chiefs defense that let the team down in that game, as it allowed over 300 yards passing and three touchdowns to Aaron Rodgers. To maintain their lead in the AFC West, their defense will need to come to play against one of the best rushing teams in the NFL.
