Plenty of expectations were placed on Utah before the season, and with the Utes ranked No. 9 in the country, they’ve mostly lived up to those expectations. They’ll have a tough test Saturday afternoon at Washington, who beat them 10-3 last season in the Pac-12 Championship game.

The Utes (7-1, 4-1) enter this week’s Pac-12 Championship game rematch at Washington (5-3, 2-3) with four straight victories. They’ve outscored the opposition 146-23 during the ongoing streak. They dominated Cal last weekend in a 35-0 throttling. Utah racked up 473 yards of total offense. Senior running back Zack Moss paced the offense with 115 yards rushing and 89 yards receiving. Senior quarterback Tyler Huntley also had a solid outing, completing 11 of 17 passes for 214 yards.
Don’t forget about the defense. It posted its first-ever shutout in a Pac-12 game vs. Cal. The Utes held Cal to just 83 yards and six first downs. Utah kept Cal to 23 yards rushing, lifting the Utes to No. 1 in the nation in defending the run. They’re giving up just 56.4 yards per game. Utah is currently tied for first in the Pac-12 South with USC, who is the only team to beat the Utes this season back on Sept. 20.
Meanwhile, Washington had a bye week, giving the team extra time to prepare. The Huskies took a hard-fought 35-31 loss to Oregon on Oct. 19. The offense was led by quarterback Jacob Eason, who went 23-for-30 with 289 yards passing and three touchdowns, along with no interceptions. Running back Salvon Ahmed also rushed for 140 yards on 24 carries. The Huskies have lost two games in the last three weeks, all but eliminating them from Pac-12 contention. However, no one says they cannot play spoiler.
