How to watch The Right Stuff in the UK

A brand new original series The Right Stuff is heading to Disney+ this month.

The series which follows America’s first astronauts, known as the Mercury Seven, will premiere on Friday, October 9 with episodes airing weekly.

Based on the bestseller by Tom Wolfe, the series explores the early days of the U.S. Space Program and the aspirational story about how ordinary human beings can achieve the extraordinary.

The synopsis reads: "At the height of the Cold War in 1959, the Soviet Union dominates the space race, and America fears it is a nation in decline. Newly-formed NASA has the monumental task of sending a man into space, and its engineers estimate they need decades to accomplish the feat. They are given two years.

"Dubbed Project Mercury, the program recruits and trains just seven astronauts from a handful of the military’s best pilots. Within days of being presented to the world, the Mercury Seven become instant celebrities, forged into heroes before they achieve a single heroic act.

This eight-part original series stars Patrick J. Adams, Jake McDorman, Colin O’Donoghue, James Lafferty, Aaron Staton, Michael Trotter and Micah Stock as America's First Astronauts.

The streaming platform is showcasing other 'out of this world' films and shows to celebrate the launch of The Right Stuff.

This includes Pixar favourite Wall-E, Race to Witch Mountain, Star Wars and Avengers to name a few, which are all available to stream now.
