How to watch Sir Paul McCartney at Glastonbury Festival

After Sir Paul McCartney's stellar performance at Glastonbury Festival 2022 one question remains. Can I watch it on-demand now?

The Macca set is not currently available to watch on-demand on BBC iPlayer along with all the other Glastonbury 2022 sets so far. There were complaints at the time of the gig that the BBC did not air Sir Paul's performance live.

There is a message on the BBC saying this programme will be available shortly, with a clock indicating it should be live by 4pm on Sunday. Sir Paul became Glastonbury Festival's oldest solo headliner when he walked out onto the Pyramid Stage.

The 80-year-old icon of British music was not alone for long, though. Foo Fighters frontman, Dave Grohl, stepped out to join him, in his first appearance since the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins, to play I Saw Her Standing There with the headliner, reports What HiFi?

Dave joined in for the last song too along with Bruce Springsteen who had played Glory Days and I Wanna Be Your Man on the night as well. Arguably the most special moment for McCartney was his virtual duet with former Beatles bandmate John Lennon, with the long lost front man's isolated lyrics from I've Got A Feeling.

Sir Paul was full of emotion as the crowd sang happy birthday to him. He told fans: "OK, so here we are. We've got some old songs, we've got some new songs and we've got some inbetweeners. I've got a feeling we're going to have a great time tonight!"

He dedicated his piano-led version of My Valentine to his wife Nancy, who was in the audience. Sir Paul also raised a few eyebrows when he showed a video of Johnny Depp during his set. Read more about his incredible gig here.

With any luck, the BBC will get McCartney's Glastonbury 2022 set online shortly.

Can you watch Paul McCartney at Glastonbury 2022 on-demand?

Most of the rest of Glastonbury 2022 can be found on iPlayer, but for reasons unexplained, this gig is currently not on the list.

Watch a Paul McCartney at Glastonbury 2022 live stream from abroad using a VPN

Even if you have a BBC account, you won't be able to access Glastonbury on BBC iPlayer when outside the UK. The service will know your location based on your IP address, and will automatically block your access.

A Virtual Private Network (VPN) helps you get around this obstacle. It creates a private connection between your device and the internet. There are lots of VPNs to choose from, but What Hifi? thinks ExpressVPN is one of the very best.
