Liverpool will target its 16th consecutive Premier League win when it makes the journey to face Sheffield United in Saturday’s early kick-off. The Reds can temporarily climb eight points clear of Manchester City if they beat the Blades at Bramall Lane, hoping to extend their domestic winning streak this term to eight matches.

United manager Chris Wilder was disappointed when his second string failed to impress in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, suffering a limp 1-0 loss at home to League One Sunderland.

The Blades cut Everton down to size in their last Premier League fixture, however, they won, 2-0, at Goodison Park. Liverpool might thank the South Yorkshire club for that result, but it’ll hope to dish out United a third straight home defeat in Week 7.

Liverpool collected its sixth Premier League win of the campaign on Sunday when they defeated Chelsea, 2-1, at Stamford Bridge. Jurgen Klopp made 11 changes to his team for the trip to MK Dons in the third round of the Carabao Cup mid-week, advancing with a 2-0 result.

There were fears winger Sadio Mane would miss the clash at Bramall Lane after he suffered a dead leg at Chelsea, but Klopp told reporters on Friday that he and striker Divock Origi are both fit to play. Star goalkeeper Alisson Becker has been out of action since he suffered a calf injury in the opening day win over Norwich City. Liverpool confirmed on Friday that its No. 1 has resumed full training, though stand-in Adrian will keep the starting spot on Saturday.

Striker Billy Sharp will serve the final portion of his three-match suspension following a red card in a 1-0 home defeat to Southampton in Week 5. Wilder has almost a fully fit squad, with forward David McGoldrick the only other concern.

Sheffield United hasn’t lost to Liverpool in its last four meetings at Bramall Lane. The hosts face a stiff task improving that record in what will be the first fixture between these teams since Feb. 2007.
