The New Orleans Saints (1-1) will be without starting quarterback Drew Brees when they take on an undefeated Seahawks squad in Seattle. The Seahawks lead the all-time series 8-7, but New Orleans won the last game between these two teams back in 2016, 25-20, at home.

The New Orleans Saints offense will look a little different come Sunday afternoon. When the team takes the field at CenturyLink Field, it will do so without Drew Brees, who injured his hand and will miss around six weeks after having surgery. Coach Sean Payton has yet to announce whether Teddy Bridgewater or Taysom Hill will get the start, but whoever is under center will be responsible for getting the ball in the hands of running back Alvin Kamara and wide receiver Michael Thomas. Kamara leads the team in rushing with 142 yards, while Thomas is first on the Saints with 212 yards receiving.
Without the offensive production of Brees, the Saints defense will have to step up. The Rams offense outperformed them last week, with the Saints defense surrendering nearly 400 yards of total offense in a 27-9 loss. Eli Apple led the team with seven tackles, while Cameron Jordan had five tackles and one sack. The defensive line will need to continue to put pressure on Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson in this game.
For the second straight week, the Seattle Seahawks squeaked by their opponent for the win. Seattle beat the Bengals, 21-20, in Week 1 at home and then defeated the Steelers, 28-26, on the road last weekend. Russell Wilson threw for 300 yards and three touchdowns, one of those to rookie D.K. Metcalf. Rashad Penny and Chris Carson gave Pete Carroll’s offense a 1-2 punch at the running back position. Penny racked up 62 yards and one touchdown, while Carson had 15 carries for 60 yards. Tight end Will Dissly recorded his first two scores of the season against Pittsburgh.
The Seahawks defense will not have to contend with Drew Brees at quarterback and will have to see who the Saints choose as their starter. Seattle ranks fourth in rushing defense with opponents averaging 57.5 yards per game. Their ability to stop running back Alvin Kamara will be a key factor in this game. Linebackers Bobby Wagner and K.J. Wright are coming off of big games and lead the team with 15 and 13 tackles, respectively.
