It was a reunion of sorts for Redskins quarterback Case Keenum and running back Adrian Peterson last weekend in Minnesota. Unfortunately, the outcome wasn’t what they envisioned. Washington fell to 1-7 on the year after losing 19-9. Keenum completed 12 of 16 passes for 130 yards. A concussion kept him out of the second half. Rookie Dwayne Haskins, who came in for Keenum, could get the start against the Bills if Keenum isn’t cleared. Peterson, who played from 2007-16 as a member of Minnesota, received a warm welcome from Vikings nation and rushed for 76 yards. The Redskins are averaging a mere 12.4 points per game, which ranks 30th in the NFL. If they want to start winning games, they will need to put the ball in the endzone.
The defense isn’t as lackluster as the offense, but they did manage to give up 434 yards of total offense to Minnesota. Kirk Cousins was a near perfect 23 of 26 passing with 286 yards but was sacked three times. Dalvin Cook rushed for 98 yards and one touchdown. Landon Collins led the team with 11 tackles, while Jon Bostic added nine tackles and a sack. The Redskins give up an average of 378.4 yards per game.
The Buffalo Bills fell to 5-2 after a 31-13 loss at home against the Eagles. Offensively, Josh Allen struggled with 169 yards passing, two touchdowns, and a costly fumble. The Bills managed just three completions in 13 attempts in their final six possessions. Frank Gore and Devin Singletary combined for just 53 yards on the ground. Gore’s 34 yards made him the fifth running back to rush for 19,000 yards or more in a career. The run game has been the team’s strength this season and should be able to pound the ball against a weak Redskins defense.
Defensively, the Bills rank in the top five in points allowed (17.4), total yards allowed (303.9), and pass defense (194.4 YPG).
