When will Oprah Winfrey interview Prince Harry and Meghan Markle?

Oprah with Meghan and Harry was aired in the US on Sunday 7 March. Viewers in the US can watch the interview on catch-up online at CBS.com.

The network announced after the segment ended that it wasn’t actually quite over there - Oprah will return on Monday morning between 7am and 9am with extra “never-before-seen clips” from the interviews.

For UK viewers, ITV has acquired exclusive rights and will be airing the full interview a day later, at 9pm on Monday 8 March.

What did Prince Harry and Meghan Markle speak about with Oprah Winfrey?

In a series of stunning revelations, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex accused the palace of fostering an atmosphere of hostility that reached a point where Meghan contemplated taking her life. “I was ashamed to say it at the time... I just didn’t want to be alive any more. And that was a very real and clear and frightening and constant thought,” she shared.

Meghan also claimed that a member of the royal family relayed concerns regarding “how dark” the skin of their son Archie would be when he is born.

Prince Harry spoke about how he felt really “let down” by Prince Charles as he longed for the public support of his family, particularly during a time when his wife faced scrutiny from the British tabloids.

And in a lighthearted moment, the couple revealed that they are due to welcome a baby girl sometime later in the summer.

Why is Oprah Winfrey interviewing Prince Harry and Meghan Markle?

Winfrey is a close friend of the former Suits actor and was present at the royal wedding in 2018. It’s claimed by royal experts that the TV host, producer and philanthropist had been trying to secure an interview with the pair for a while.

Do the royal family approve of the Oprah Winfrey interview?

Buckingham Palace is yet to comment on the news, and the royal family’s views on the interview are currently unknown.

It’s also unknown whether the pair ran their decision by the Queen – however, as non-working members of the monarchy, they do not have to give the palace notice of their media commitments.

Oprah with Meghan and Harry will be broadcast in the UK on Monday 8 March at 9pm on ITV.
