How to watch John Swinney's coronavirus update as Deputy First Minister addresses Holyrood today

John Swinney will give an update on the current coronavirus situation in an address to Holyrood later today.

The Deputy First Minister would usually take to the podium at St Andrew's House at 12.15pm, but today’s address will be different.

However, it will not be a review of the current stay at home lockdown restrictions, as Sturgeon indicated that the next one will not take place until February 2.

Scots will remain in lockdown until at least mid-February as new daily coronavirus cases remain high across the country.

School buildings will also be closed over the same timescale, meaning thousands of children will have more weeks of home learning.

Yesterday Sturgeon said there are some signs that lockdown appears to be working as case numbers fall.

When is John Swinney due to speak?

The Deputy First Minister will address MSPs in a statement made virtually later this afternoon.

Parliamentary business will kick off at 2pm before Swinney gives the latest coronavirus data at around 2.20pm.

Where can I watch Swinney’s statement?

Scots can tune into the statement on BBC One Scotland and the BBC Scotland channel from 2.15pm today.

A special Politics Scotland programme will air till 2.50pm.

You can also stream the statement from the Scottish Parliament TV website, which can be found here.

The Daily Record will also be providing all the information you need over on our live blog.
