Arsenal will attempt to return to winning ways in the Premier League when they travel to Newcastle today.

The Gunners rescued a dramatic late point against Manchester City in north London last weekend, though manager Mikel Arteta subsequently faced more criticism over his team allegedly playing “with the handbrake on” in big matches.

It’s another tough test awaiting for Arsenal this afternoon as they make the long trip to Newcastle, which has been far from a happy hunting ground over recent seasons.

Arteta’s side have experienced some notable and painful defeats in the North East in the not-too-distant past, including two last term in the top-flight and Carabao Cup semi-finals.

From Arteta’s infamous angry post-match rant featured on Amazon Prime’s ‘All or Nothing: Arsenal’ documentary series after they frittered away the chance of Champions League qualification, to Anthony Gordon's controversial winning goal in 2023, this fixture has rarely disappointed of late and today should be no different.
