How to watch Netflix 'Anelka: Misunderstood' documentary about controversial ex-Liverpool star

An upcoming Netflix documentary on former Liverpool striker Nicolas Anelka is set to hit screens soon, and it’s sure to be a must-watch for fans of his former clubs.

As well as the Reds, the Frenchman turned out for the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City and Bolton in the Premier League, as well as Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Fenerbahce elsewhere in Europe.

Anelka's career will be delved into after he was at thecentre of several controversies.

He will be the subject of his own documentary, followingNetflix's successes with 'Sunderland Till I Die' and the Leeds United-centric'Take Us Home'.

The documentary on Anelka is set to be titled 'Anelka:Misunderstood’, and will hit screens on August 5.

Despite his success on the field for the aforementionedclubs he played, controversy followed the 41-year-old around during his career.

In the trailer, Anelka says: “I’m a footballer, I wasn’t there to have fun. If you really like me and want to do what I’ve done, you’ll only make enemies.”

It's expected the documentary will look at his infamousexclusion from the 2010 France World Cup squad after his x-rated argument with then coach Raymond Domenech.

Anelka was allegedly sent home for verbally abusing Domenech.

His personal honours include the 2008/09 Premier League Golden Boot when he was with Chelsea.
