No. 1 Ohio State returns from its bye week looking to make a statement as they host the struggling Maryland Terrapins on Saturday at Ohio Stadium. With LSU and Alabama playing each other this weekend, it’s important for the Buckeyes to put on a show to impress voters who will inevitably give favor to the winner of that clash.

With all due respect to Maryland, the upset alert likely won’t be ringing too loudly this weekend. The terrapins were crushed by Michigan, 38-7, at home last weekend and showed very little signs of being capable of knocking off a top team, much less one some consider to be the best in the country.
The 3-6 Terrapins struggled mightily in the passing game. They barely reached the 100-yard mark through the air in the loss to Michigan. When they come up against a team who has only allowed more than 10 points in a game once this season, it’s a recipe for a lopsided result.
Ohio State got a chance to breathe this past weekend after its big 38-7 win over No. 16 Wisconsin the previous week. The Buckeyes offense continued to prove how dynamic and versatile, as quarterback Justin Fields threw for two touchdowns while running back J.K. Dobbins added two on the ground.
Meanwhile, the impressive OSU defense held the Badgers to less than 200 yards of total offense. Ryan Day’s team is a well-rounded and talented juggernaut. This should be a chance for them to make a big impact on potential voters as the race for the four College Football Playoff spots heats up.
