Manchester United bring the curtain down on their 2025/26 Premier League campaign by visiting Brighton, and they will do so with a new permanent manager at the helm.
Michael Carrick was called up on an interim basis after Ruben Amorim was sacked back in January and has done an admirable job, steering a listless United squad back into Champions League contention.
And, as many expected, he has got the nod to become the club’s permanent manager after it was confirmed on Friday that he had signed a two-year deal.
He will close out this campaign with a rather meaningless match, though, with United’s third-place finish long since confirmed.
The game will mean slightly more to Bruno Fernandes than his team-mates, though, as he chases a record 21st assist of the season. That could prove tricky, though, with his most favoured targets Casemiro and Benjamin Sesko set to miss out.
There is more on the line for Brighton, though, who are still in with a shout of qualifying for European football. They simply require a win to do so, with a place in the Europa League seemingly most likely.
Chelsea are lurking just behind them in the table, though, and could leapfrog the Seagulls with victory at the Stadium of Light.
