Jurgen Klopp made his Premier League managerial debut in a 0-0 draw away to Tottenham Hotspur in October 2015, but leaders Liverpool will expect a more dominant result at home on Sunday. Eight years have passed since Tottenham Hotspur last won at Anfield, but it hopes for an upset on Merseyside after showing a recent upturn in form.

Liverpool dropped league points for the first time this season when it drew 1-1 at Manchester United in Week 9, with the Reds out to preserve—or even increase—their six-point lead over Manchester City.
Both of Sunday’s combatants enjoyed Champions League wins midweek. Mauricio Pochettino’s outfit ended a three-match winless streak in emphatic fashion when it hammered Red Star Belgrade 5-0 at home on Tuesday–the team’s first win in Group B.
Liverpool enjoyed an extravagant result away at Genk, where Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scored twice in a 4-1 win to keep Klopp’s side within one point of Group E leaders Napoli. Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah were the other scorers for the Luminus Arena guests.
Oxlade-Chamberlain came on in Sunday’s draw at Old Trafford and could be in contention for another start at home to the Spurs. Naby Keita made his second start of the season midweek and also looks likely to be a part of Sunday’s squad.
Harry Kane and Heung-min Son each bagged a brace in the win over Red Star, while Erik Lamela was rewarded with a goal in another strong display this term. Lamela and Tanguy Ndombele also each provided two assists at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
James Milner and Dejan Lovren stepped in to replace Trent Alexander Arnold (illness) and Joel Matip (knee) at right-back and centre-back, respectively, on Wednesday. Klopp will hope to have his regular starters back against the resurgent Spurs, who are unbeaten in two following a dismal pair of defeats at home to Bayern Munich (2-7) and away to Brighton & Hove Albion (3-0).
Tuesday’s 5-0 win was the first clean sheet Tottenham goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga has kept in five appearances. The Argentinian has stepped in for injured No. 1 and captain Hugo Lloris, who is out until early 2020 after suffering a dislocated elbow.
Liverpool is unbeaten in four meetings vs. Spurs and have won the last three of those (two in north London). Rafael van der Vaart and Luka Modric each scored when Tottenham last won at Anfield in May 2011, but the team’s current stars have proved less than reliable for Pochettino this campaign.
