England’s top flight gets back underway following the international break and Steve Bruce’s Magpies hope to stun the bookmakers by pilfering points from their trip to Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp’s hosts will be all the more wary of Newcastle’s threat after the northeast outfit snatched a 1-0 win in their visit to Tottenham Hotspur in Week 3. However, that hit and run remains Newcastle’s only win of the season so far, with Liverpool sure to be upbeat about their chances of clinching a fourth consecutive win against this opponent.
The Reds have beaten Newcastle in each of their last two visits to Merseyside by an aggregate score of 6-0 (4-0 and 2-0), although the last meeting between these sides was a nail-biter. Divock Origi came up with one of his late winners when Liverpool emerged 3-2 victors at St. James’ Park in May, the Reds’ first win away to Newcastle since April 2013.
Klopp suffered a 2-0 defeat in the northeast when he faced Newcastle for the first time in December 2015. Liverpool went on to draw in their next two meetings with the Magpies, but have since shown a more clinical streak and won three meetings in a row. Bruce’s side will be steep underdogs to be the first team to take points off Liverpool this season, though ring rust could be a concern for the hosts, hoping to defend a two-point cushion at the top.
