The Super Eagles continue in their quest to qualify for the 2026 World Cup today, facing Lesotho in Polokwane.

After they drew to South Africa last time out, Nigeria’s hopes of qualifying for the tournament seemed to be dwindling.

Now Bafana Bafana have been handed a points penalty, though, Nigeria are back in contention.

Only the top seed in the group will earn automatic qualification for the tournament, and the Super Eagles sit just three points off the lead with two matches remaining.

Benin, who have never before played at the World Cup, lead the way, edging South Africa on goal difference.

Nigeria’s final qualifier of this international break will prove crucial, though, as they face Benin in what could be a winner takes all matchup.

The Super Eagles have been handed a massive fitness boost ahead of the match, too, with Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen back in contention after missing the South Africa draw through injury.

Ola Aina will miss out with a hamstring injury, but Fulham trio Alex Iwobi, Samu Chukwueze, and Calvin Bassey are all in attendance.
