The Foxes have been the surprise team of the season so far. Brendan Rodgers has Leicester City firing on all cylinders en route to the third spot in the league table. They come into the weekend with 23 points, six clear of Arsenal who are in fifth. It’s hard to tell what is most impressive about this Leicester team. Is it the ability to get results against some of the best teams or the attractive style of play that can lead to buckets of goals being scored, as evident by a 9-0 romp of Southampton a few weeks ago? A win over Arsenal would quiet any doubt of the Foxes hot start being a fluke and would catapult them into favorites of staying in the top four throughout the season.
Arsenal is in full-blown crisis mode currently. They’ve only won one league match in their last five, they’ve been eliminated from the League Cup and they just lost to Vitoria SC in the Europa League. Rumors of manager Unai Emery losing his job are reaching a boiling point with the Gunners struggling in many different areas. The inability to create chances with such a talented attacking core with the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Nicolas Pepe is one big reason for the inquests. It’s paramount for Emery’s future that the results start to turn around or it could be the end of the road for him in North London.
