They may be on the cusp of qualification, but until lately, Tuchel's England reign had been a thoroughly uninspiring ride. The breakthrough came only last month, when Bellingham and Palmer were injured and Phil Foden didn't make the squad. The 23-year-old scored one and set up another in the 3-0 victory over Wales, to go with his assist against Serbia.
Waiting to be put out of their misery are Latvia, who look set to miss out on an 11th major tournament in a row. The world's 137th-ranked team is on a six-game winless run and coming off a 2-2 draw to 174-ranked Andorra. Worst still, two of their best players, captain and Aberdeen midfielder Kristers Tobers and Arminia Bielefeld striker Roberts Uldrikis, are injured. They could do with bringing Marians Pahars out of retirement.
