How to watch Italy v Ireland U21s in European Championship qualifier

The Republic of Ireland U21s face Italy away from home in a huge 2021 European Championship this afternoon.

The match takes place just a few minutes walk away from the Leaning Tower of Pisa and gets underway at 4pm Irish time.

It will not be shown live on Irish TV, but Italian station RAI 2 will broadcast the match and may also stream it on their website.

Jim Crawford's side currently top their qualifying group by three points, but Italy are in second place and have a game in hand after their clash with Iceland was postponed last week.

The hosts are set to field their U20's side for today's game after seven of their U21's squad tested positive for Covid-19.

Crawford has also lost some players from his squad in recent days, with defender Dara O'Shea and midfielder Jason Knight both joining Stephen Kenny's side due to Covid-19 ruling a number of senior players out of Wednesday's match with Finland.

Speaking ahead of the match, Ireland U21s boss Crawford said: "We are looking forward to the game. We know just how important this game in terms of the Group but also in terms of our chances of qualifying for the finals tournament.

"We have kept an eye on what has been going on and we will be as prepared as we can be for the game. Our staff have been working hard to provide us with as much information as possible as we can get on the Italian team.

"Everyone with us is fit and available. Including the staff, we had 34 tests done and 34 came back negative, so there is a lot of credit to the players for following the protocols.

"This game is a great opportunity for us and we have been working hard in training all week. We have some really good players and we want to continue on the good form that we have showed already in this qualifying campaign."
