How to watch How To Build A Girl online

One of the most-awaited films of the year, How To Build A Girl, is finally available to watch online.

The film adaptation of Caitlin Moran’s book was initially set for a cinema release on 3 July after receiving its UK premiere at the Closing Gala of this year’s Glasgow Film Festival in March.

However, due to coronavirus the launch was moved online, and is now available to anyone with an Amazon Prime Video account.

Here’s what you need to know.

Good news; it’s easy! If you have an Amazon Prime Video account, it’s available to stream from July 24.

If you don’t have an existing account, it’s easy to set one up and costs £7.99 per month - plus, it’s easy to cancel.

What is How To Build A Girl about?

Set in Wolverhampton in the 1990s, the coming of age tale stars Booksmart actress Beanie Feldstein showing off her very best Black Country accent.

With endless references to sex and masturbation, the story focuses on teen Joanna, who is desperate for some excitement in her working class life. She begins writing for a London music magazine, and reinvents herself as a pop punk writer, before realising her dreams might not be everything she hoped for.

It’s based on Moran's own life, and the novel became a bestseller following its release in 2014. In the film adaptation, Feldstein is predictably electrifying.

Plus, with plenty of niche nineties Midlands references, it's perfect weekend watching.
